Failed Matcha Cake

A few weeks ago I found a really good vegan vanilla cake recipe from 'It doesn't taste like chicken'. It was super easy to make and the taste was soooo good. It made me sure that we don't need any animal products to satisfy our cravings.

Anyways, I made a cake using the same recipe a week later but I added cocoa powder this time and it went very well. It became our routine to eat a slice of cake after dinner (which is kinda detrimental to our weight loss plan).
Today, I was looking at my pantry and found a forgotten Matcha powder packet that I bought in Japan. I was confident that I can make a delicious Matcha cake with the magic recipe!

After 40 minutes.
Whaaaaaaaat
It turned out to be a chocolate colour and the nice, fresh green colour has disappeared!

I didn't apply any filters. It was that colour.😭
Taste was okay, it's just not very good looking. I researched what was wrong and found out I needed Matcha that has been made for cooking. Matcha for cooking contains Chlorella which helps to keep the green colour after baking.
I'm Japanese and I love Matcha since I was a child. My uncle was a teacher who taught people how to drink matcha in tea ceremonies (There are certain ways to drink matcha in a ceremony) however, I dont know anything about that.
I will let you guys know if I find a good Matcha for baking!
Bye Cha
